AKAA FALLS written by Akosua Akyaa Owusu(Dcs 20522) shot by Akosua Akyaa Owusu Eastern Region is one of the friendliest and excessively polite people in the southern part of Ghana. The region is full of the nation's history. Introducing one of the relatively unknown waterfalls in the country- Akaa Falls. In one of the 21 districts in Yilo Krobo, specifically Akyeremateng village is where nature’s beautiful Akaa falls can be found. Despite it’s close proximity to Boti falls, it is rather surprising that this falls remained hidden and underdeveloped for such a long time which definitely needs a face lift. A 2hour drive from Accra the nation’s capital and  a 5 minute walk from the main road along a marked trail. Akaa Falls is accessed via a scenic 250 concrete stairs to the bottom with a canyon of falling water around if the flow is good, a snake like palm tree and a  designed gigantic rocks with an ancient hunter’s foot print. Bruku Rock

Image
Bruku Rock ( Portia Dovi Delali Dcs 20275) The mystical Bruku Rock located at Kwahu Tafo Ghana, Eastern Region is 134 kilometers from  Accra to Nkwetia.  Bruku the towering great God Rock of the Kwahu people can be reached on the road from Kwahu Tafo to Adawso. Magnificent as it is, it was once (if the legend is to be believed) even higher, and visible by sailors on the ocean 150 km away.  But one day a peasant farmer eating some water-yam nearby, and an ant stole a crumb and carried it up on to the mountain, not knowing that the ancient God Bruku is allergic to water-yam. As a result, Bruku’s top fell off, leaving the ant, feeling rather foolish- but us with a still stunning landmark. The God Bruku is the sacred guardian watching over Kwahu, and you run the risk of offending   local sensibilities if you go walking on the hill without permission (or, worse still, climbing the  rock itself). On request a guided trek can be arr...
