The Eastern Region located in the south of Ghana is a rich blend of dramatic landscapes, historical relics and traditional culture. The Eastern Region is famous for its large areas of lush tropical forests, cascading falls, striking hills and rocks, as well as beautiful gardens.
In this article, we move all of our focus to the beautiful Odweanoma Mountain. This mountain tends to be an outstanding figure in the whole of Kwahu, in the eastern region. It gigantic yet terrifying and intriguing nature makes one pause for  a second in thought of how amazing our creator can be.

History has it that, the early dwellers of the present day Kwahuman experienced a lot of hardships when they first settled. They would go to the mountains everyday to pray for the land. It was believed that  doves always visited the mountains when they came to pray and anytime the doves visited their prayers were answered. They then named the mountain Odweanoma mountain which means the 'dove' mountain.
The Odweanoma mountain which begins at the foot of Atibie with a height of 2000ft above sea level, is one of the magnificent sites gifted to the Eastern region. It is the second highest mountain in Ghana. The mountain houses the popular Kwahu paragliding festival and numerous beautiful mountain springs , which are  known  for their  spiritual and medicinal attributes. The mountain is seen clearly when viewed from the midpoint of the Obomeng township (where the picture was taken) . A closer look at the  mountain reveals the clear rock formations.

The mountain is believed to be the ideal place to communicate to the creator because it is believed to be closer to the abode of the Maker. When you visit the Eastern region , do well to witness and experience the paragliding  and be sure to harness your chi. And hey, don't forget to throw a coin into the mountain springs if you find one.
